Aims and Scope

Ecology, Economy and Society–the Journal of INSEE is an open access peer reviewed journal.

The journal aims to offer authors a forum to address socio-environmental issues from, across and within the natural and social sciences. The journal welcomes contributions at the ecology-economy-society interface that contribute to informed debates. Contributions could be conceptual or theoretical pieces or be methodological and empirical. In order to meet the sustainability challenges, the Journal believes in 'methodological pluralism' and contributions may address broader developmental considerations vis-à-vis ecological systems, sustainability, equity and justice.

It would encourage papers that connect theory with the practice. We welcome trans/inter-disciplinary approaches including (but not limited to) ecological economics, environmental economics, political ecology, energy analysis, environmental science & engineering, political economy, environmental sociology, ecological and environmental history, social ecology and human ecology.

Papers could focus on issues such as (indicative and not exhaustive) forests, water, energy, climate change, biodiversity, pollution, agriculture, eco-restoration and conservation, poverty-environment nexus; demography and bio-physical resource base; land-use changes; sustainability and sustainable development (ecological, economic, social, political, etc.); alternative development pathways; socio-ecological transitions and social metabolism; cultural, anthropological and economic analysis of environmental changes; eco-socialist approaches; ecological modelling; environmentalism and ecologic-economic conflicts; environmental law and governance; industrial ecology; valuation of natural resources and green accounting; alternative well-being matrices.

Contributions should be academically rigorous, logically consistent and offer expositional clarity. Contributors could be academics and activists, civil society and policymakers, professionals and students.
