INSEE Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony honouring Professor Kanchan Chopra

The Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE), in collaboration with the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), had the privilege of hosting the INSEE Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony honouring Professor Kanchan Chopra—a pioneering scholar, Founding President of INSEE, Founder Editor of Ecology, Economy and Society - the INSEE Journal, and former Director of IEG.

The programme brought together an eminent panel of scholars who reflected on Prof. Chopra's extraordinary contributions to ecological economics, institution building, environmental policy, and mentorship. Pushpam Kumar highlighted her global scholarly impact;  Priya SHYAMSUNDAR spoke about her leadership in strengthening SANDEE;  Nandan Nawn reflected on her role in establishing INSEE and its journal;  Seema Purushothaman,  Bibhu Prasad Nayak, and Piyush Chopra shared personal reflections on her inspiring journey; and Eszter Kelemen (International Society for Ecological Economics) underscored her influence in strengthening international ecological economics collaborations.
Following the conferment of the Lifetime Achievement Award by INSEE President  Saudamini Das,  Professor Kanchan Chopra delivered an inspiring acceptance address on interdisciplinary scholarship, institution building, and evidence-based environmental policymaking.
The celebration concluded with the INSEE Lifetime Achievement Lecture by Charles Perrings on "Trade, Aid and Plague: The Changing World Order and Emerging Infectious Disease Risks," moderated by  Pranab Mukhopadhyay, offering timely insights into the intersections of trade, environmental change, and global health.
