On
Non-market Valuation of Environmental Goods and Services

The Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE) in collaboration with the South Asian
Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) and the Centre for
Economic and Social Studies (CESS)
, Hyderabad, is organizing a one-day post-conference workshop
on Non-Market Valuation of Environmental Goods and Services on November 9th, 2019 at the Centre
for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad, the venue for its Tenth Biennial Conference. This
one-day workshop will cover fundamentals of non-market valuation of environmental goods and
services, in terms of theory and empirics.

Tentative agenda for the workshop:
The workshop will cover fundamental methods of non-market valuation (both stated and revealed
preference methods) of environmental goods and services including:  

  1. Role of non-market valuation in cost-benefit analysis
  2. Production function method 
  3. Contingent valuation method
  4. Travel Cost method  
  5. Hedonic pricing method

Other Details
The workshop is aimed at young researchers including PhD students who are working in the area of environmental and natural resource economics. The workshop has no participation fee but participants should make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation. 

Application method
Interested researchers should send their application by e-mail to Organizing Secretary, INSEE conference email: (inseesec@gmail.com) with subject heading: “Application for SANDEE-INSEE-CESS Postconference Workshop”. Applicants must send the following documents as a single PDF file in order to be considered: 
 

  1. A motivation letter why the researcher would like to participate in the workshop (No more than 200 words) 
  2. A short CV (max 2 page).  
  3. Research idea with key issue, research question, related theory and empirical approach in any area of environmental economics (500 words maximum).

The deadline for receiving applications is August 15th, 2019. Shortlisted candidates will be informed by September 10th, 2019. This workshop has limited seats and selection will be finalized by the workshop organizers based on submissions (a-c) above.
