The conference was hosted by the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Science (IISc),  and co-hosted by Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) and National Institute for Advanced Studies (NIAS)

INSEE’s 8th Biennial Conference focused on “Urbanization and the Environment”. It was held in the city of Bengaluru, once known as India’s garden city, and now one of the world’s most rapidly expanding metropolises, and a microcosm of the socio-environmental challenges and responses that urbanization and industrialization engenders.
