Accommodation inside Indian Institute of Science (IISc) main campus include:

To reach the IISc main campus:

By Bus: 
At Kempegowda Bus Stand, popularly known as “Majestic”, which is the central bus stand in Bangalore and take a bus to “Tata Institute”. Some of the routes include: 253V; 276D; 266N, T; 256MA; 251; 251E, G, M, etc.
 
By Rail:
Exit Bangalore City Station from platform number ONE and reach the prepaid taxi stand and hire a city taxi. Alternatively, go to “Majestic”, which is just opposite to the city railway station and take a bus, as above.
The Yeshwantpura railway station is located at less than 2 km from the main campus. Take a 'pre-paid' auto from the counter located outside the exit gate of platform number 6. A prepaid auto is the best deal given the options available. The landmark is CNR Rao Circle from where one enters IISc. Though the prepaid contract says IISc (Tata Institute is the more popular name for the Institute) gate as the destination, the hostels and most of the academic departments are within 500 mts from the gate, and hence the auto can be requested to drop you at your destination.
 
By Air: 
The main campus is about 35kms from the Bangalore International Airport (BIA). The Meru/Easy/KSTDC taxi options are all called "Airport Taxi". Follow the arrow to the Airport Taxi line which is on the left as one exits from the terminal building. Do not be fooled by folks inside the building (offering pre-paid) or outside the building (saying "taxi, taxi"). Strictly look for "The Airport Taxi"-- the logo is also on the vehicles. The Indian Institute of Science is known as "Tata Institute" to the locals and is past Mekhri circle on the way to Yeshwantpura (one must take a right turn at Mekhri circle).
 
Airport Shuttle Service (Vayu Vajra) operated by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), runs from the airport to various areas in Bangalore city every 15 minutes. BMTC airport kiosk information: Telephone: 080 2760 7989; Mobile: 077 6099 1269 (can be dialled from all mobile phones). Bus fare will be collected by cash only inside the bus. Take the BIAS-2 Service running from MCTC to BIA. Get down at Malleshwaram Bus Station and take an autorickshaw to reach the main campus. By Bus
From “Majestic” or Kempegowda Bus Stand, catch a bus to Ramaih College, get off at the Ramaih College bus stop in Mathikere, and ask for directions to the Ramaih back gate. The NIAS entrance (Blue gate) is right next to it (about 5 min from the bus stop). Buses to IISc campus/ Mathikere leave from platforms 21, 22 of the Majestic Bus Terminus. The bus terminus is connected to the Bangalore City Railway station by a subway.
 
By Rail
Arrive in Bangalore and alight at Bangalore City Railway station and walk to Kempegowda Bus Stand. Follow the directions noted above.
 
By Cab/Auto
Ask the driver to take you to Mathikere. The landmark is Ramaih College bus stop, followed by Ramaih back gate.
 
By Air

After collecting you baggage, ask for directions to the “Vayu Vajra” Airport Shuttle Bus Stand. Take the Airport Shuttle Bus Service “ route KIAS-10 to MS Ramaiah Hospital on New BEL Road, walk through the Ramaih hospital campus to Ramaih back gate. The main gate of NIAS is next door. Another option is to take an auto from the Ramaih Hospital stop.
 
By Cab from the BIA

From Kempegowda Bus Stand, popularly known as “Majestic”, which is the central bus stand in Bangalore take a bus to Malleswaram 18th Cross. The available bus routes include: 253V; 276D; 266N, T; 256MA; 251; 251E, G, M, etc.
The Institute of Wood Science and Technology is approximately a 10 minute (550 mts) walk from the bus stop. See map here
 
By Rail:
Exit Bangalore City Railway station from platform number ONE and reach the prepaid taxi stand and hire a city taxi. Alternatively, take a bus, as above, from “Majestic”, which is across the road from the City Railway station.
The Yeshwantpura railway station is located at less than 3 km from the Wood Sciences Institute. Take a 'pre-paid' auto from the counter located outside the exit gate of platform number 6. A prepaid auto is the best deal given the options available. Ask for “Wood Science and Technology Institute, near Malleshwaram 18th Cross.”
 
By Air:

The Institute of Wood Science and Technology Guesthouse is past Mekhri circle one must take a right turn at Mekhri circle) but instead of proceeding to Yeshwantpura one must ask for "Maramma Temple Circle". The institute is adjoins the temple premises.
